Introduction: Contemporary higher education requires adaptation processes that place demands on psychological functioning; in this context, psychological inflexibility constitutes a vulnerability factor for emotional distress. Objective: To analyze the relationship between psychological well-being and psychological inflexibility among university students in the city of Loja, Ecuador. Method: A cross-sectional, descriptive, correlational study was conducted. The sample comprised 267 university students recruited through non-probability sampling, who completed Ryff's Psychological Well-Being Scale and the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire-II. Results: The findings showed that psychological inflexibility was negatively and significantly correlated with self-acceptance (r = −.431), positive relations with others (r = −.450), environmental mastery (r = −.355), personal growth (r = −.257), and purpose in life (r = −.244). Conclusion: Psychological inflexibility was inversely associated with five of the six dimensions of psychological well-being, with the exception of autonomy, suggesting the need to consider strategies aimed at fostering psychologically flexible responses.
