Rape myths are attitudes that facilitate the justification of sexual violence. In a sample of 511 adults from the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, Argentina, with 83% women and the rest men (mean age = 27.8; SD = 9.7), we explored the psychometric properties of a questionnaire on rape myths to determine if gender, age, self-esteem, and psychopathy predict rape myths. The results of an exploratory factor analysis indicated four factors (the victim provoked it, not having the intention, denying the violation, and the victim lying). A confirmatory factor analysis replicated this structure. Cronbach's alphas ranged from .74 to .83 for dimensions. Gender (male), age, psychopathy, and self-esteem were significant predictors of rape myths.
